With the rapid development of tourism and the diversification of management mode for tourism resources, people's awareness has been raised. Thus tourism resources has become a hot study topic. While the previous studies mainly focused on its scale,quantity,grade,and exploitablility etc. ignoring its economic values. As a result, some resources are wasted and environment has been damaged. Therefore, it is of great necessity to evaluate those resources. The past decades has witnessed a stock of studies related abroad. While China starts those studies late. In the light of this, the present thesis is supposed to evaluate the tourism resources for Emei Mountain scenic spots.The thesis first reviews some major studies. Based on those important studies, the author adopts two popular methods (travel cost method and contingent valuation method) to evaluate the use value and non-use value of resources in Mt. Emei respectively.The author next briefly introduces physical geography, the existing tourism resources and management in Mt Emei scenic spots. A survey on the social and economic status of the tourists, their consumption behavior is conducted to analyze the domestic markets of Mountain EMei.In the end of the present thesis, TCM and CVM are adopted to evaluate the tourism values of Mt. Emei. The results show that in 2007 the use value of Mt. Emei is¥2939.6894 million; the non-use value is¥69367.73 million; the total economic value is¥72307.41 million. The total economic value of Mt. Emei exceeds its total income of 3566million.It indicates that Mt. Emei, as a world heritage, its non-use value is of greater importance compared with its use value.
