This thesis tries to use management knowledge to state the necessity, feasibility and urgency of implementing strategic transformation through unified communication as breakthrough for Chinese telecommunication operators. Starting from the development of Chinese telecom industry and the analysis of internal and external environment, the thesis introduces the concept of unified communication timely, expounds the happening, development and application in details, pointing out the leading position of the operators in the value chain of telecommunication all over the world, and is faced with the serious challenge from upper system providers and equipment manufacturers. It is urgent for traditional telecommunications operators to seek and readjust the strategy direction in the new situation. At the same time, the thesis is striving for strategic way of transformation for operators and is of great practical significance through researching and referring successful experience from foreign operators.On the process of discussion, the thesis uses SWOT, PEST Benchmarking and Value chain analytical method to analyze the internal and external environment as well as own advantages and disadvantages, confirms core competence and key factors and distinguishes opportunities and challenges Chinese telecommunications operators are facing. Moreover, the article puts forward strategic concept project to ensure that the conclusion is objective, scientific and reasonable through referring to successful experiences of communication enterprises abroad and combining own characteristic and current direction of transformation.
