Since reform and opening up, our country's economy maintained fast growth, the degree of income inequality has increased substantially. The increased degree of income inequality not only has seriously affected the social stability and the reform process, but also restricted the economic growth. Existing research shows that the degree of income inequality in China is exacerbated by the result of the income gap between urban and rural areas.The widening Urban-rural income gap is the result of multiple factors. Opening to the outside world is one of many factors. Theoretical study shows that the increased degree of openness and enlarged income distribution gap has inevitably linked in the logic. This paper attempts to clear quantitative relation between China's urban and rural income gap and opening to the outside world.The first part of this paper focuses on theory about opening up on the impact of the income distribution at home and abroad and empirical research findings.The second part refers on the impact of opening to an internal mechanism of income distribution on the basis of research results of the theory,The third part comb the opening up of China's income gap between urban and rural areas and the basic situation from the scale of development, industry structure and regional distribution point of view.The fourth part, using co-integration analysis, test the extent of opening up the income gap between urban and rural areas and the existence of a balanced long-term relationship.The fifth part, on the basis of a panel model of reunification and the provincial-level panel in a comprehensive data base, analyzes the impact of the income gap between urban and rural areas the opening up of China's in eastern, central and western regions.The sixth part is the basic conclusions reached and the relevant policy recommendations on the empirical analysis.The basic conclusion in this paper is that the opening up expanse the gap between urban-rural income in the overall. At the same time, the opening up has the different roles in different regions.
