Project quality, progress, investment, security and civilized construction are the important contents in project management, and also the key process in the execution of enterprise strategic management and in the shorten installation cycle. Strengthen the management of project and shorten installation cycle can achieve management target and a favorable weapon to strengthen competition power and survival ability of a company. They play a vital role in withstanding inner and external pressure, increasing profit of enterprise, and attaining the chance of survival and development. They not only can reduce the enterprise cost, increase the enterprise profit, but also can upgrade the level of enterprise management and strengthen the enterprise nucleus competitive ability. Under market economy circumstances, a company should establish systemic management concept, regard it as a systemic job, and research object, content and method entirely.For the first time, the theory of engineering project management and the burnt petrol coke were combined in the paper. A work method that is suitable to the burnt petrol coke installation on engineering project management in Petrochemical General Factory was made, so that the burnt petrol coke project can complete without a hitch. Mainly this paper relates to PDCA theory, work breakdown structure, institutional framework, network planning chart, critical path, etc, and concludes relative theories on the burnt petrol coke project management, which can guide practice, so the burnt petrol coke project can complete smoothly.The method of theory study and real cases combining was used in this paper, emphasized the whole process of the burnt petrol coke installation, million tons per year, from Petrochemical General Factory, LPEB. Some helpful work experience and methods were summed up by project item management theory, analysed the control method and relationship of the three objects about project item from the beginning of project quality, progress, investment, security and civilized construction. Based the real experience, the method and theory suitable to petroleum project item management and object control were concluded to use to conduct the same installation on project item construction job.
