The western region in china has made the substantial progress in inland shipping transportation construction, but the backward state of the overall situation in the inland shipping transportation hasn't been changed fundamentally, Inland shipping is still the weakest link of the comprehensive transportation system in western region. Therefore, the study of China's western port logistics development has the important significance for the layout of China's western transport planning and the development of the western region's economic future.This paper discusses the following six aspects of China's western port logistics development issues. Firstly, the review is based on theoretical and practical background of the western port logistics development. Secondly, with the reference of the macroeconomic environment in western regional economy and development of the transportation, and the consideration of its disadvantages and shortcomings, an objective evaluation and its SWOT analysis of the development of an integrated situation are given. Thirdly, the paper elaborates the current development situation of the main rivers in the western region, gives the western port logistics evaluation index system. Fourthly, the reference on the direction of western port logistics development was given by making full use of characteristics and expertise of structural equation in this paper. Finally, measures and recommendations on how to accelerate the development of the inland shipping are given and the analysis and elaboration aiming at how to strengthen the comprehensive utilization of water resources, strengthen the planning and construction of the Inland Waterway, accelerate the western river trade vessels serialization and standardization of the implementation of the work and the construction of river ports.
