Study On International Competitiveness Of Jiangsu's Mechanical And Electrical Industry

The exports of mechanical and electrical industry of Jiangsu Province has rose rapidly since reform and opening up and occupied half of total exports.The international competitiveness of mechanical and electrical industry of Jiangsu is enhancing successively, but it has problems in terms of import-export structure and trade terms.Thus it has practical significance to analyze the causation and put forward advices.This paper described the theories of competitiveness, explained concept of mechanical and electrical manufacture, indicated that it has features of wide variety, strong correlation effects, relatively high technological contents etc. and put forward the influencing factors. This paper analyzed the actuality of competitiveness of mechanical and electrical industry of Jiangsu on the basis of indexes of competitiveness and demonstrated that the competitiveness of mechanical and electrical manufacture in different categories was different and trade terms need to be improved.This paper used econometric model to analyze the causation of competitiveness of mechanical and electrical industry between Jiangsu and China. As a result, labor and foreign direct investment are the main causation of competitiveness. From the perspective of internal and external factors, favorable location and environment, quality of labor, good industrial base were internal causes of enhancement of competitiveness of mechanical and electrical manufacture and the foreign direct investment, foreign demand, domestic support industry , the government of china and opportunity were external causes.This paper demonstrated that local mechanical and electrical enterprises should take full advantage of inherent advantage, make all efforts to develop the core technology, create own brands actively, continuously expand the potential international market to enhance the international competitiveness of mechanical and electrical industry of Jiangsu. The government should create a favorable environment for development of mechanical and electrical industry of Jiangsu.
