Research On International Competitiveness Of China's Iron And Steel Industry

With the quickening of the economic globalization process, the international competition is becoming fiercer. After our country joins WTO, along with various industries development becomes gradually consistent with international economy rules, Chinese iron and steel industry is flinging itself into a grim and cruel international competition. Although China has become a large iron and steel country in which its production and consumption both rank first in the world, compared with some advanced countries'steel industries, it has also revealed certain disparity in the scale of enterprises, industrial structure, energy consumption, technological level, research and development investment, and so on. As a pillar industry and strategic industry, the iron and steel industry's international competitiveness will play an important role in national economy, not just relevant to the prospect of this industry. Therefore, research on international competitiveness of iron and steel industry of China possesses very important practical meaning.The thesis takes the analysis and evaluation of the international competitive of our nation's iron and steel industry as the thread. Firstly, it analyzes the industry's features and the overall situation of the production and international trading, and then the text systematically analyzes the influential factors of industry's international competitiveness and their effect mechanism and sets up double logarithm modals. And data of Chinese iron and steel industry from 1999 to 2004 has been chosen to do empirical test and analysis. After that, the text designs industry's international competitiveness evaluation index system with referring to other's work and the analysis of the influential factors. On the basis of this index system, this text uses the gray relevancy analytical method and chooses America, Japan, Korea and other 6 countries and regions to analyze the competitiveness state of China, offering a kind of new train of thought for the thing that the competitiveness of the iron and steel industry is appraised. At last, on the basis of analysis and demonstrations, the paper gives some countermeasures and suggestions of promoting international competitiveness of Chinese iron and steel industry pointedly, offering the theoretical foundation for the industrial policy and enterprise development in this industry, possessing active introductive meaning.
