The drastic changing business environment turned the supplier management to a very important part of enterprise horizontal integration. Excellent suppliers can support the cost and marketing strategies to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. At the same time, in the process of market diversification, "lean theory", with less investment, short period of time to create the value as much as possible, rapid response to customer needs, the idea of reducing waste, has become an effective business management method. However, "lean theory" in a single enterprise is far from enough, which means it is needed to be extended to the supply chain. For manufacturers and suppliers, cooperation based on the strategic partnership and using lean supply to replace the hard competition of price have a very important theoretical and practical significance to enhance their own survival and competitiveness to achieve the ultimate goal of a win-win situation.This paper begins with supplier management and lean management theories. On the basis of many theoretical studies, it is trying to bring up a "Lean supplier management mode" to achieve the combination of these two theories. By using a questionnaire the paper selected the manufacturing enterprises in Jiangsu and Zhejiang as the target in order to obtain the basic information of supplier management at this stage, with which it can analyze the problems of traditional supply model. Following, combining "lean" ideas and principles, the paper concludes the content and features of lean supplier management model, including the supplier selection, which discusses the evaluation index system and the mathematical model-Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation, JIT purchasing, inventory management, as well as the suppliers relationship maintaining. Furthermore, a manufacturer has been selected as a sample to realize the idea of lean supplier management model. At last the article also discusses the objectively the possible risk of Lean supplier management, and then make a summary and outlook.There are a lot of common problems in supplier management among China's manufacturing enterprises for which the"lean"management has a promoting significance. However, the situation will be different from different enterprises. It's not a generic model, but a preliminary study, of which the specific details will be enriched and completed in further studies.
