Study On Building Urban Competitiveness Index System And Urban Competitiveness Of Chongqing City

City, as a form of social organization, has become the important part of economic development of many countries after thousands of years evolvement. Under the influence of science and economic, the development of city is undergoing transform of urbanizing and globalization. The study of urban competitiveness among cities in the level of worldwide has become one of the hotspot of study of urban management and study of urban development. And, the key point of study of urban competitiveness is to build a scientific evaluate index system and use it to evaluate specific city unit under specific environment. This paper tries to build an relatively scientific and exact evaluate index system and use it to analysis the urban competitiveness of Chongqing City and other nine cities after the study of few famous evaluate index systems of urban competitiveness around the world. Beginning with the explaining of"rocket model", this paper uses the main index method to analyze the urban competitiveness of Chongqing City and finds out the main problems in the process of development and then gives out series of suggestion.The paper mainly includes six parts which are:First part: It mostly introduces background, academic and practical significance, purpose and innovation of the research. Second part: It mostly introduces the definition of the main concepts in the paper , the character of urban competitiveness, and the difference between these concepts and other relevant ones.Third part: It mostly introduces the past research about urban competitiveness theory including foundational theory, main methods and models of urban competitiveness system.Fourth part: It mostly introduces how to build the evaluating index system of urban competitiveness, including the principal composition of setting evaluating indexes and confirmation of the method of evaluating.Fifth part: It mostly introduces the analyses of urban competitiveness of Chongqing city, including the choose of model city and computing the data, the analyses about results of evaluating, each main indexes and disadvantages compared to developed cities.Sixth part: It mostly introduces the principals and suggestions about how to improve the urban competitiveness of Chongqing city.After the six parts above, this paper gives out the conclusion and points out the main deficiency which show clearly the direction for the later research.
