With the tendency of the globalization of economy, how to keep sustaining competitive advantage of enterprises in the drastically competitive environment becomes the focus in the field of the theory and the enterprise. At the same time, core competency, as the source of competitive advantage,has caught more and more attention. The reserch of core competency was originated from USA and achieve great progress in the field of the theory and the enterprise in western. Neverthless,the study of core competency in China is just in the beginning and few reserch is done in this field especially in practice. Therefore, Based on psychology, organizational theory and behavior, management, statistics etc., this research has done a theoretic study on core competencies. According to the JS company, and all kinds of research methods including literature, BEI,investigation and spss statistical method, the thesis is trying to diagnose the competitive advantage and the development of enterprise from constructing the competency model angle in the purpose of make some contribution of the study of core competency.This dissertation is made of three parts. As the first part of the paper,the resercher summerized theory of competency and core competency,and discussed the origin, definition, reserch methodology,and then give a retrospect of the reserch findings and latest focuses, and defined the core competency based on this.As the second part of the paper, the reserch selected the staff in the JS company as the testees, including senior, middle-level and low-level managers and the example staff in each department. Based on the behavior event interview(BEI) and expert evaluation, the resercher compile the JS company core competency questionnaire. By analyzing the data from questionnaires, a conclusion that the core competency of JS company consists of following parts is drawn: core value, innovation,manufacture and service, output, capital operating and strategy management.This dissertation not only riches the theory of core competencies, but guides the manufacuring company to develop the core competencies.Analyzing those variables on the basis of constructing the core competence factors on different gender, age, length of service, school age and pose rank, we find that these variables have some significant influence on the core competencies of JS company.As the third part of the dissertation, the resercher analyzed the six competencies aim at the JS company, and then analyzed the effcet and benefit which each competency made on the JS company. Eventurally, the resercher proved that the core competency model that had been constructed has double meanings, in theory and practice.
