As the world's largest coal producer and consumer, China's massive coal mining and application causes serious environmental pollution. A basic way to reduce coal pollution is to develop and spread clean coal technology. Underground coal gasification is one of the advantageous applied technologies of coal purification. Yet, it has been an immature technology so far. Site testing is needed in connection with coal field characteristics before mass production.During the stage of site testing, there exists some specific characteristics,eg the conspicuous technological risk, apart from the common risk concerning regular chamical projiect. Therefore, enhancing project risk management is of great importance to the success of underground coal gasification experiment. This thesis analyzes the various risk elements by applying relative risk management information and puts forth a four-level risk evaluating system which includes general risk goal level, quality & rate standard level, technology-Environment Protection-safety-fund-talent risk sub standard level and a scheme level made up of 11 risk elements. The risk elements and major situations are studied by way of qualitative analysis the result of which is further explored and analyzed through hierarchy analysis in order to work out the weights and sequences of the risk elements that finally lead to a general evaluation of the project's risks as a whole. The thesis also proves the feasibility of the risk evaluation standard system and proposes in a detailed way the measures to cope with possible risks.
