The Relationship Research On Industrial Cluster And Regional Competitiveness

With the continuous development of industrial cluster and characteristic ones, and the more obvious effects of industrial cluster to increase the regional economy andenhance the competitiveness, more and more scholars began to pay attention to therelationship between them. However, among all these researches, there are far more qualitative analysis studies than quantitative ones. Therefore, this thesis aims at studying the relationship between industrial cluster and regional competitiveness from the quantitative point of view. First of all, this paper looks comprehensive back of the theory of industrial cluster and regional competitiveness, reveals competitive advantage of industrial cluster and proposes evaluation index system of regional competitiveness. Secondly, it points out and discusses that industrial cluster is an effective model to boost regional competitiveness, according to a qualitative basis from theory, practice, and other scholars' research results. Then, as the core of the research, it carries on empirical research on the relationship between industrial cluster and regional competitiveness, including the case study of industrial cluster in the small town of Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces to analyze the relation. Here, we useθindex to measure the aggregation degree of industrial cluster, catastrophe progression to evaluate regional competitiveness, and elasticity analysis method to analyze the relationship of them. Finally, from the thesis' research, combined with the reality of China, raises the conclusion and some suggestion. Through the research herein, it can improve that industrial cluster enhances the regional competitiveness, and there is positive correlation between them.The differences between this paper and others are: Firstly, it usesθindex to calculate the situation of industrial cluster in various Chinese industrial sectors in 2005, and comprehensively displays the current degree of industrial concentration in China, combined with the actual analysis. Secondly, in order to calculate the elasticity of industrial cluster to regional competitiveness, it measures the averageθindex of all the manufacturing industrial clusters.
