On Research Of Strategic Design And Countermeasure Of Developing Pingtan Insular Tourism

As the development of economic and advancement of the society, demands on tourism are growing heavier and heavier, people travel farther and farther and modes of travel more and more varied, which transfer from those emphasizing functionality, sightseeing tourism and cultural tourism for example, to experiencing tourism that emphasis on fashion, participating and experience. Leisure and holiday tourism, the most attractive and characteristic tourism items of insular tourism, and the nautical sports abounding with participating, experiencing and excitement, meet such a trend of touring consumption. Islands, which is far away from uproarious cities and the symbol of protogenic nature, has become the preferred destination for tourists because of its characteristics of mystique, romance and adventure. Furthermore, the development of modern technology promotes the development of modern transportation methods such as express passenger vessels, luxury yachts, passenger liners and air service, and consequentially promotes the accessibility and comfortableness of islands, which accelerates the development of island tourism, and makes it much more favorable around the world. For instance, Hawaiian Islands of America, Phuket Island of Thailand, Bali Island of Indonesia, Jeju Island of Korea, Okinawa Islands of Japan, and Cyprus and Malta, the island countries located in the Mediterranean Sea, all of them are yearning destinations for worldwide tourists. Tourism has become a mainstay industry and an important source of exchange revenue for these countries and regions, thus earned its everlasting prosperity. China has had some of its islands massively exploited for sightseeing and vacation tourism since 1970s, which include Hainan Island, Shahai Hendsha Island, Zhejiang Putuo Island, and some other small islands along Chinese seaboard. It is proved by practice that islands have become the most attractive destination for tourists.Based on the integration of research on seashore and island tourism home and abroad, this paper presents a general theory special on island tourism, including its relational concepts, particular characteristics, etc. Then the tourism of Pingtan Island is analyzed with SWOT method, and the opportunity and challenge of its development is revealed. At the same time, by discussing how to exert the advantage, overcome the disadvantage, take the opportunity and eliminate the menace, the paper come to an end with the design of strategy and measures of its touristic development, which is hopefully able to work as a reference for the development of Pingtan Island tourism.
