Increasingly fierce economic competition not only has help to bring about the transition from seller's market to buyer's market but also stimulates the emergence of more personalized flavor attached to the product. The development of job-shop production featured more varieties has been gradually catering to the current market and inevitably becomes trendy. However, a series of problems concerning production and management can also be caused by this kind of production, such as high production cost, low production efficiency, long production period and so on. Though Lean Production (LP) is good at solving problems mentioned above, it is more suited to be carried out in mass production with stable orders rather than job-shop production. Therefore, how to implement LP in job-shop production has become urgently desirable.Based on the research on both the production mode of LP and characteristics of job-shop production, this paper, from the respective need of social environment, production and customers, first proves the feasibility of LP in job-shop production. Then, through analyzing the limitations of the traditional LP system when implemented in Job-shop condition, the author puts forward two new subsystems (implementing system and performance management system) to the original three-dimensional LP system which made it become a five-dimensional system, which presented in this paper as a pentagram, consists of five dimensions, namely, target system, Implementing system, technology system, performance management system and base-holding system. The improvements of each five subsystems in order to fit in the basic characteristics of job-shop production are also brought forward. Specifically, mixed logistic controlling system and the idea of predigesting standard task instruction through building up the standard working procedure database are put forward in the implementing system. Based on the traditional performance management system, this paper adds a new segment to this system, that is, the communicative performance, which makes the LP more personalized. After the setting-up of the whole LP system, the basic procedures of how to implement JP in job-shop are discussed.At the last part of this paper, the theory mentioned above has been implemented in a loop workshop of a company. From the building up of a suitable LP system for this workshop to how to carry out it to the positive progress achieved, the whole procedure has been elaborated.
