Competence model is one of the popular topics in current HR management, however it has not been studied so widely in domestic. The unique, complicated human beings can be the core competence of the business and brings continues strength for the company. How to develop the key employees is a focus in HR management.In this article we have reviewed the competence management materials and analyzed HR job profile in China, as well as the competence development in IKEA of Sweden. We focus on the set up of competence model in IKEA Trading Area North China, and implement it through all the process from recruiting, learning and development, performance management, salary range and successor planning. This is an update of IKEA HR system in IKEA Trading Area North China and has been proved to be efficient to improve core competence in the company.This article is reliable and applicable. It uses scientific tools in the process including questionnaire survey and face to face interview with key employees. We also set up assessment center and evaluate the personality and behavior with two behavior assessment tools. Based on the current situation of IKEA and its HRM system, the article has developed the concept of competence and look forward to further improvement.
