Geopark is a place where geological remains can be protected and the knowledge of Earth science can be popularized. The establishment of Geopark can not only protect the geological remains but also support the sustainable development of local socio-economy and provide new employment opportunities.Based on the connotation of geological tourism resources in Shanxi province, the author analyzes the goal and function of Geopark's construction, summarizes the utilization of geological tourism resources and the planning of Geopark, attempts to put forward the program of Geopark's planning and discusses the contents of Geopark's planning, Which the planning of theefunctional distribution, the planning of the service infrastructure of popularizing Earth science the planning of the protection of resources and environment and so on.Splendid Mountain is one of the Five Great Mountains,which we call it Western Great Mountain, with another name:Taihua Mountain. It has special geology and geomorphologic landscape. According to Geologists'inspection and certification, Splendid Mountain was formed about 6—10 billions of years ago.with the movements of the earth's crust, the earth's crust in this region raising violently, form a peculiarly rock columns, columns evoled into steep cliff and rock formations after several crustal movements . From time immemorial, amazing natural landscape, natural resources and long history culture won the admiration of the Chinese people.It is one part of Splendid Mountain range which is A spur of Qin mountain Mountian, it is a carrier of the beauty of nature, the steep of Splendid Mountain is breathtaking ,the grace of Splendid Mountain is grace with power, magnificent and beautiful melt into one another,its has multiple beauty forms. Splendid Mountain plays a pivotal role and have distinct characteristics in the culture of tourism in Shaanxi. In the development of western region of China, Splendid Mountain should take measure on the protection, management, planning, advocacy of its unique geological remains, to achieve modernization of the international tourism standards, access into the ranks of the international geoparks as soon as possible, show its charisma In the blend of Eastern culture and Western.From the standard and perspective of establishment of national geological park and international geoparks,this paper explains typical geological phenomenon and regional geological structure of Splendid Mountain, analyses current situation and existing problem in the management, Tour lines, customers, and other aspects of Splendid Mountain, Put forward suggestions of improvement, the author also hope Splendid Mountain can access into the ranks of the international geoparks as soon as possible.
