Geological heritage landscapes in Mt.Siguniang national geological park are various ae well as characteristic, which is a sort of ideal place with protective development value for studies on geology, geomorphology, tectonics, ecology and environmentology. This study on protective development of Mt.Siguniang national geological park focuses on how to balance among ecological, economic and social benefits to improve the regional economy by means of rational exploitation and scientific protection. Therefore,in the study the author analyzes the natural and geographical conditions, regional geological setting, geological heritage landscapes of Mt.Siguniang national geological part,at the same time, the author studies and summarizes relative foreign and domestic literature, describe features of its geological heritage landscape, puts forward evaluation methodology, delimits the projected objects and their classification. In the process of studying protective development, scientific research, tourist development and science education are taken as main methods to maximize its social and economic value in the course of sustainable development. In the study of protective development, the author systematically plots out Mt.Siguniang national geological park into five key categories, twelve groups and nineteen subgroups and many other typical landscapes, and makes quantitative evaluation by means of the analytic hierarchy process to determine degrees of geological heritage landscape. And then the author proposes the projected objects of Mt.Siguniang national geological park containing alpine mountain landscape represented by Mt.Siguniang, typical quaternary glacial relics, tectonic landscape represented by five-color mountain syncline structure,as well as alpine ecological system, biological landscape and human landscape. In addition, according to the principle – strictly protecting tourism spots, importantly protecting scenic spots, specially protecting key geological heritage, the author divides the park into primary, secondary and tertiary reserve to protect geological heritage landscape, sustainable use of geological heritage landscape in the park.In order to protect fully the geological heritage landscape, the author divides the park into four protection zone: premium, primary, secondary and tertiary on the basis of the original reserve classification. The author calculates the tour route of each scenic spot that afford the maximum amount of tourists by means of critical path method.Meanwhile, the author summarizes the problems in the literature on the Mt.Siguniang geological park to modify the cases of protective development.According to the present classification “three valleys and one mountain”,the author depends on various functions and protection levels to modify and divide into six functional zones, that is,geogological heritage conservation zone, natutural zone, science education zone, sightseeing zone, park management and service zone, and original residential zone.In addition, according to the practical situation of Mt.Siguniang geological park, author takes sustainable development of geological heritage landscape and local community participation as theoretical framework based on foreign and domestic experience on developing the geological park.Centering on the main tasks of protection and development of Mt.Siguniang national geological park, the author proposes a kind of four-level and ten-action development model that depends on protective action as precondition, science education as supplement, tourist development as support, and community participation as basis.
