With the deep application of information technology, IT project has played more and more important role in organization. The efficient management of IT projects faces two challenges: How to align projects with organization strategy, and how to optimize resources utilization for multi-projects?This thesis is based on theories and tools of project portfolio management, introduces the concept of IT PPM, studies and analyses its practice in D company, and provides experience and lesson learned for organization who will adopt IT PPM to solve IT project management issues in a parallel multi-projects implement environment.Firstly, this thesis reviews the history of PPM, and introduces the definition, content and position of PPM, and also compares it with traditional project management. After that this thesis introduces the processes of PPM. Secondly, this thesis introduces the IT PPM, including Characteristics of IT project, principles of IT PPM, suggestions of tools selection, and challenges of IT PPM implement. Thirdly, this thesis analyses the IT PPM practice in D company, describes the design, architecture, models and resources allocation, and evaluates the implementation result. Finally, this thesis gives a conclusion and points out the direction for further study.This thesis is a study for IT PPM model which is only based on internal IT project in a large IT organization. But in D company, project scope covers multi countries and regions, project types contain infrastructure, software development and system integration, and project duration ranges from one month to several years. Also the project scale varies from small to large, and human resources involve internal and outsourcing, so it will help other organizations to use for reference.
