Study Of Foreign Direct Investment And Upgrading Industrial Structure In Jiangsu Province

Along with the quick world economic liberalization and global economic integration paces,foreign direct investment(FDI),especially,the investment of multinational companies is playing an increasing important role in Jiangsu's economy,which has been an important part of Jiangsu's economy.As Jiangsu is coming into a new growing period,many people are concerned about how to make the best use of FDI which brings in a good amount of capital,applicable technology,managerial experience and marketing concept,to solve such problems in Jiangsu as low-level technology and to promote technology upgrading and industrial restructuring.In this paper,with the directions of FDI and upgrading industrial structure theory,combined with the latest study of FDI and upgrading industrial structure in our country and aboard,firstly,the corresponding relation theory between FDI and industrial structure was presented,the development status and character of FDI in inter and inner of the three-time industry was also analyzed.At the meantime,empirical analysis on the inner and inter of industry structure was carried out respectively.By building up the contribution index calculation system of the FDI enterprise bring to the technology,capital and labor intensive industries,the effect analysis of FDI enterprises to the recently industry structure in Jiangsu province was presented.The results show that FDI upgrade Jiangsu province industry structure mainly by pouring in the technology intensive industry cluster;Further more,by calculating analysis method,and Co-integration analysis & Granger-causality test theory,the long-time equilibrium relation between FDI input in Jiangsu province and industry structure optimization was proved.It revealed that FDI is the one of the most important factors to drive the upgrading industry structure.While industry structure alternation doesn't push the introduction of FDI correspondingly.The empirical analysis also reminds us to care that FDI company control the technology intensive industry in Jiangsu Province when it expediting the upgrading industry structure.This will cause technology intensive industry in Jiangsu to highly depend on Foreign Investments.As for this,the government should take corresponding measures to avoiding the potential crisis,such as,to correctly settle inter and inner relations in three-time industry(the primary,second and tertiary industries),the relations between Inward Foreign Direct Investment and national Economic,the relations between labor intensive industries and high-new-technology industries.Based on the above studies,the thesis then focused on the conversion the target of inward the FDI,the investment structure of FDI,the investment subject of FDI,and adjusting on the mode and field of the use of FDI,and upgrading the grade of Jiangsu in International Division of Labor.By the analysis of these focus points,the stratagem of using FDI to realize the strategic adjustment of economic structure was presented in detail.
