Multiple Criteria Decision Making(MCDM) refers to that decision making can be carried out in the presence of a number of alternative criteria.Multiple Criteria Decision Making can be divided into two categories:Multiple Attribute Decision Making(MADM) and Multiple Objective Decision Making(MODM).In practice,this classification is in line with the two aspects of problem solving:MADM for the selection(evaluation),MODM for the design.This is a widely accepted classification.MADM methods have a broad background in practical applications in engineering design,economics,management and military and many other fields.It has great significance for solving practical problems that making depth and systemetical study of MADM methods.TOPSIS(Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) method which has intuitive geometric significance and a wide range of applications,is an effective method of multiple attribute decision making.However,with the economic and social development,the problem of multiple attribute decision making people encountered is more and more complex, and traditional TOPSIS method has been demonstrated in some non-adaptability.So we need to conduct an deep research of it.The thesis made some exploration of the TOPSIS method in multiple attribute decision making,including the following:(1) It introduces the basic steps of the traditional TOPSIS method to discuss the rank reversal problem in TOPSIS.On the bisis of the traditional TOPSIS method,it is generalized respectively on attribute types and attribute value types,so that it can be used to deal with more complex multiple attribute decision making problems including all kinds of the attribute types and attribute value types.It has a certain theoretical significance and broads the scope of application of TOPSIS method.(2) Based on Grey System Theory,after introducing the basic principles and merits of grey correlation analysis,the thesis proposed an improved TOPSIS method which based on gray relational analysis.The method created a new relative closeness degree combining both the Euclid distance and the grey correlation degree,as a standard to determine the quality of alternatives.Finally an example of H Company's choosing the best from five suppliers illustrates the effectiveness and feasibility of the method.The QBASIC program of the improved TOPSIS method is given in appendix.
