At present, the Chinese enterprises are facing the challenges of globalization, new technology, cost control and management transformation. Therefore, more and more enterprises start thinking about the human resource management from strategic aspect. They also link the human resource management with the mission and strategy of the enterprises.Performance management is a quite important link of the strategic human resource management, and it is a kind of activity that can ensure the goals of enterprises are achieved in an effective and efficient manner. As to the practical problems, that is how the domestic retail chain enterprises use performance management, the article studies the theory and method of enterprise performance management system basing on reference investigated. The thesis involves the theories of strategic management, strategic human resource management, performance management and methodology of combination of theoretical research and case study. Then the writer systematically studies the strategic performance management system of the retail chain enterprises.The development of the retail chain enterprises has typical Chinese characteristics. By studying the performance management of the retail chain enterprises, we can not only provide the references for the enterprises which want to build and improve their performance management system, but also for other domestic enterprises which want to perfect their performance management system. The strategic performance management system is based on the profound theory and strong need of the reality. The target management theories, agency by agreement theories, The Theory of Contingency and encouragement theories provide profound theoretical basis for the strategic performance management system. During the process of analyzing the retail chain enterprises and conducting performance management, this article proves that it is necessary to build the strategic performance management system on the basis of summarizing all appearing problems. The writer also carries out the analysis and study from the foundation of performance management index system to the operation of inside technological process. The whole process of performance management was presented clearly in this article, providing the train of thoughts for further studies. Finally, the writer systematically expounds the foundation and operation of the strategic performance management system, taking M company as an example.
