It has been a long since the East Asian regional economic integration idea was put forward. However, the idea wasn't put into practice due to several reasons. It was the 1997 East Asian Financial Crisis that had made East Asian countries set foot on the journey under the pressures of the economic globalization. In December, 1997, in the 2nd Asian Leaders Informal Meeting held in Malaysia, the ASEAN, China, Japan, and South Korean leaders met together for the first time. Since then, the process of the integration of East Asian regional economic integration was on the way, though the integration is in very slow process. As the two major nations of East Asia, China and Japan,in recent years, are riddled with the contradiction and conflict, which turns into barriers in the process. It is well known that the realization of the East Asia Economic Integration relies on the close cooperation and joint efforts of China and Japan. Meanwhile, both of China and Japan need the regional cooperation scheme to develop their economies. Nevertheless, China and Japan have the same object to promote the regional integration. If China and Japan wish to gain full respect from other Asian nations and to lead the regional unification process, both have to be united like France and Germany collaborating with all their hearts and to get rid of their historical resentments. Both should change their self-centered philosophy to the regional-oriented one, to integrate them into a big Asian family as equal partners and strong coordinators. Then, the East Asia regional economics integration will have a good prospect. This article introduces the background, significance, features and the problems of the East Asian economic integration, using the domestic and foreign literature for reference. Then analyzes the obstacles aroused in the process of the unification. The writer exhaustively analyzes the problems and reasons of the relationship between China and Japan, by using some tables and data. Next is about the relations of the two countries and the East Asian economic cooperation. Especially, analyzes the positive significance China and Japan participate and the role they are playing in it. And, points out the effect of their relationship to the East Asian economic unification. The last part explores the way to solve the problems of the Sino-Japan relationship, when looking forward to the future of the East Asian economic integration.
