In our country,the researches about human capital mainly focus on knowledge staff rather than the workers that take up the majority of employed persons.A large number of working class is just viewed as the general consumer goods rather than capital which can be used to create huge value.At the same time some scholars seem to hold the assumption that "human capital workers homogeneity" and the opinions about what the workers are engaged in is "general services." And the research results about the human capital of workers only come out in the other theoretical studies over the area.This tendency will not only take bad effects in upgrading the country's overall human capital and industrial structure,but also do harm for the enterprise competitiveness development and harmonious labor relations.The human capital of workers is not homogeneous.It can not be distinct entirely by the indicators such as "education time","training time","skills class" and "post life" and so on.The knowledge and skills of workers can be measured by the six dimensions,including width,depth, and unconventional,specific,tacit and complementary degree.In a sense,the essence of the technical capacity in enterprises is knowledge,and the improvement of the workers' knowledge in every dimension will have contribution to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.So this paper only focuses on the knowledge which is one of the important elements of human capital. The in-depth study objection of this article is the dimension named the knowledge complementary. Not only is the complementary the unchanged characteristics of knowledge but also because of this inner structure precisely and the fact that each individual's specific experience is limited;the division of labor has become reasonable and meaningful.But most of the researches about the complementary knowledge are qualitative analysis,which are lack of quantitative analysis,such as research about the relationship between the complementary knowledge and corporate performance(or the core competitiveness of enterprises).But the premise of this study is to identify the measurement scale of the variable of complementary measure.So this is the reason why I choose this topic. This paper is about measuring indicators of knowledge complementary of the front-line workers in the auto industry and the knowledge itself is an important component of human capital of the front-line workers,so the literature review begins with the researches on workers human capital;Secondly,through the literature review of knowledge definition and intellectual capital,I point out the scope of knowledge in this study;The third part is about the meaning and its economic significance of knowledge complementarities;Finally,this paper describes the existing measurement indicators of knowledge complementarities.This study develops a valuable scale about the knowledge complementary of the front-line workers in automobile manufacturing through the adoption of rigorous scale development process.The original measurement scale was designed on the basis of solid theoretical foundation and built content validity by experts.By the pretest,the first data collection,500 questionnaires were distributed,441 valid questionnaires were recovered and effective recovery rate of 88.2%.With the help of Software SPSS 15.0,the item analysis,internal consistency testing and exploratory factor analysis are taken to modify the questionnaire.And this paper also takes the use of confirmatory factor analysis to test the construct validity.Finally,the formal scale concludes four dimensions and eighteen items.On this basis,the aim of the second large-scale data collection is to test the reliability and validity of the official scale.1300 copies of questionnaire were released and 1265 questionnaires were recovered,of which 1072 valid questionnaires.Then after the examination of Split-half reliability and internal consistency reliability(Cronbach a coefficient) to demonstrate that the formal scale meet a higher level of reliability,and also by calculating the correlations about item to total,dimension to total,inner items and inner dimensions to verify the scale validity along with the re-use of Software AMOS 7.0.Rigorous scale development process ensures that the final generation of the "Scale about knowledge complementary in the front-line workers in automobile manufacturing industries" is credible and worth of practical application.This study takes gender,age,education,length of service,type of work,firm size and so on as variables to discuss the knowledge complementarities about the frontline workers in auto industry and carry out the differences.The main results are as follow:(1) Age shows varieties on different scale of knowledge complementarities;(2) Length of service in the firm and also in the industry has some influence in knowledge complementarities;(3) A remarkable difference shows on the type of work;(4) The size of firm is another variable which has influence in knowledge complementarities;(5) The different enterprises status in the industry shows varieties on different scale of knowledge complementarities as well.
