Chinese agriculture in general is in the primary stage of transition from the traditional resource orientation to science and technology-orientation. Traditional agriculture is characterized with continuous labor and land input, which is actually not suitable for Chinese situation because our land resource is quite limited. Labor forces is not a simple concept of population, but refers to the educated and high-tech knowledgeable labor capital, who can make proper and favorable decision from various technology.Mountain area plays an important role in China's social and economic development and Taihang Mountain, as a special area in Hebei province, is economically significant to provincial development. Taihang Path centering on technology promotion has been proceeding for nearly 30 years, and its further development should take account of farmers'selection of technology, because the understanding of farmer's choice behavior of technology is conducive to make effective and specific strategies and methods to further promote Taihang Path and better serve for famers in mountain area.Based on the theory of sociology, economics and regional development economy, this paper makes a study on the technology selection made by farmers living in Taihang mountain area from the perspective of influential factors. The research combines theoretical support and cases study, analyzing internal and external factors influencing famer's selection of technology and subject variety to explore deeply the characteristics of famer's selection and possible promotion strategy in the course of advocating agricultural technology. Qualitative analysis is applied to summarize famers'interview material and then present statistical description. Quantitative analysis makes regression to various factors influencing famers'selection of technology in different regions. The combination of development and comparative analysis is used to study regional diversity of famers'behavior mode. It attempts to find out essential factors influencing famers'selection from the external conditions and four major internal conditions, i.e. famers'characteristics, social element, economic element and environmental element, so as to make appropriate strategies to improve application of agricultural technology and transfer of technological achievement, and hence contribution to the development of Taihang Path. The conclusion of this paper is that Taihang Mountain area can be divided into four regions according to population indicator. Farmer's choice behavior mode in four regions can be divided into four types according to subject varieties, i.e. family-dependence, self-made-decision, social help and democratic vote within family. Under the influence of multi-factors, whatever mode reflects farmers'limited rationality, educational level, economic status within members and local economic level. We can draw from this study that appropriate improvement should be made on the basis of analyzing decision-making power in different choice behavior mode, so that Taihang Path can better meet famers'demand and acquire long-term development.
