Methods and ways of interior design in contemporary China inheriting from Bai Nationality's traditionally residential culture and geographical features of traditionally residential decoration culture of were analysized and summarized from the deep analysis and summarization of the residentially regional features and human environment as well as the interior decorative culture which belonged to the either history or present of Bai Nationality in Dali.Residentially interior design style, which is the physical configuration of traditional culture and a uniquely residential manners that is suitable for the people adapting to the nature, lifestyle and folk-customs, are all embodied the spirit of traditional culture of Bai Nationality from the location to building, from interior to exterior and from overall space to decorative details. Thus, not only the inheritance and the development of locally traditional interior style were studied, but the various and multi-level research of its traditional culture should be studied. Especially the improvement of the living condition and environment as well the avoidance of over- commercialization which may lead to the lose of local original characteristics on the basis of inheritance and progress of the locally residential interior style itself are the key points.The results showed: The formation of traditionally residential decoration culture of Bai Nationality due to the interaction of many factors. The uniquely geographical location and climate was the soil of survival, the impact of Chinese culture provided the basis for the traditionally residential construction and the interior decoration and layout, the thriving economy promoted the development of the residential decoration, the outstanding crafts improved the level of traditionally residential decoration, the essence of the religious belief, the rigid grading system and the conception of landscape enriched the cultural connotation. Interior Design is also a kind of cultural behavior; the contemporarily residential interior decoration and the traditional culture of Bai Nationality are symbiotic.A new method, which is the heritance and application of traditional culture in the interior design that including the reuse of traditional symbols, the integration of modern lifestyles and aesthetic philosophy, the creation of traditional space and the reversion of local culture, combining the traditional culture and the style of interior design into an integrity was raised through the analysis, systemization and summarization.
