The Hui nationality is one of the larger national minority groups in China.TheHui are distributed widely throughout China,and often live in compact commucitiesin particular negions. The core culture of the Hui is Islamic culture,Islam has had asignificant influence on all aspects of Hui life,and is particulally obvious in nelationto the dress.Guide County has been called "the small jiangnan of Qinghai", naturalrefewing to its favorable environment and human environment.Guide County is amulti--ethnic community;the Han nationality population is more than half,and theHan nationality culture is the local mainstream culture.Tibetan is the second largestnationality group, and the Hui nationality accounts for one tenth of the population.The Hui nationality moved into the area at the beginning of Ming Dynasty, andthus,has a long history.Together with the16ethnic groups,the Hui partizipated inthe county’s development.Therefore,over the course of the Hui nationalityclothing,it absorbed influences from the dress culture of the other ehtnic groups.The Hui nationality clothing also has close relationship with special features of thelocal natural environment. Islam is part of Hui thorough popular sentiments,withnegular and solid education, therefore,theHui’s costume culture has been impactedless by urban fashion culture.The Hui nationality clothing includes headdress, upper and bottom garments,footwear decorations,and accessories within Hui dress culture.There are differencesin closing for daily life,rituals,and neligion. The headdress is the most unique aspectof Hui clothing, its neligious aspect is stronger. In terms of upper and lowergarments,Islamic negulations stipulate loose and securely closed dress.Forfootwear,People pursue comfort and fashion.Accessories function as decoration inthe entire apparel.For men, Islam does not advocate excessive decorations, but hasfewer restrictions for women.The transformation of Guide dress culture has occurred through a longprocess.Characteristics of west Asian dress are at the base of Guide Hui costumeculture,it is the crystallization of west Asian dress culture and Chinese dress culture.Over the course of thousands of years of evolution and development in Guide,thedress culture of the ancestors of the Hui nationnality. in Guide has changeddramatically. Through the influence of the local multi-ethnic culture and naturalenvironment,a distinctive local Hui closing culture has developed.Hui dress has colour, religious, and aesthetic cultural connotations. Dress is asilent linguistic symbolic marker, with important implicite cultural content. Thedetailed and thorough interpretation and uneadthing of more information aboutdress culture will help us to better understand the living conditions and folk cultureof the Hui people of Guide.
