Study On The Farmers' Concurrent Business Behavior And The Influential Factors

This paper focuses on farmers' concurrent business under the background of our country's carrying out policies to increase farmers' income and to transfer farmers to other industry areas.At present, researches on farmers' concurrent business of Xinjiang are few,so this paper uses the fixed observation samples of farmers of Fukang,in Xinjiang to study concurrent business behavior and the influential factors by means of micro-level analysis of farmers and meanwhile we make some suggestions,which are practically significant to promote rapid and healthy development of farmers' concurrent business in Xinjiang.We first analyze general situation of farmers' concurrent business in Xinjiang and then by using methods of classifying the data for comparison and step-by-step logistic regression to study the development of the farmers' concurrent business behavior at the fixed observation site.We attempt to find out the influencing factors closely related to the behavior and to analyze their impacts on it.Finally we offer some solutions to the present problems and influential factors involving farmers' concurrent business behavior.These are conclusions that we draw from the research:(1)Farmers' concurrent business may help improve farmers' income.Accompany with the higher and higher degree of farmers' concurrent business,income trend of farmers moves upward.(2)As the degree of farmers' concurrent business gets higher and higher,the ratio of output - input of agricultural rises first and then shows the downward trend.(3)Farmers' concurrent business has a significant impact on agricultural production.With the higher and higher degree of farmers' concurrent business,farmers tend to crop-based agricultural production and in planting production farmers of typeâ… promote grain production but farmers of typeâ…¡inhibit grain production.Farmers of typeâ… and typeâ…¡inhibit economic crops production.(4)Farmers' concurrent business can provide a platform for the farmers who want transfer to non-agricultural industries.And it will help to reduce the population who are engaged in agriculture and it is also good for concentration of land.(5) With the number of family male labor forces increasing,the possibility of farmers' concurrent business becomes more.(6)The higher education family members receive in general,the more possibility it is for farmers to take concurrent business.(7) The larger land area farmers own,the less possibility it is for farmers to take up concurrent business.Altogether,advantages from farmers' concurrent business are more than disadvantages.So we should encourage and support the healthy and rapid development of farmers' concurrent business.
