"Senior tourism" have been regarded as a " weakness "by travel agencies because of its low-profit, but with the increasing of aging population in the world, the number of senior tourist is enlarging, the expansion of travel distance from domestic tourism to outbound tourism, market for old people is becoming one of the most potential one in china ,which has already got more and more public attention!Xinjiang, as a weak economy area in china, the development of "Senior tourism" has brought a new opportunity for Xinjiang tourism. from the view of tourism marketing and the direction of tourist resource, the paper analysis the characteristics of senior tourism market, development conditions, constraints factors, the necessity for development. the paper adopts the method of combining theories and substantial evidences together, then give analysis to current supply situation for senior market ,which including the supply of hot product, current marketing situation, the introduction of "healthy leisure travel", careful service highlighted, then elaborate a lot of problems which are existed in the development of senior tourism in Urumqi, found that there is a smaller share of senior tourism market, the development of senior tourism market is still in its infancy stage, a huge demand for senior tour, but the actual travel is limited, tour agency, which still is deep-rooted the old view for old people, lack of innovative spirit, senior travel services, provided by the travel agent ,partly existed many blank phenomenon, the sales way is single, senior tourism products focus on outside Xinjiang, while Xinjiang tourism products with a relatively small number, age discrimination can be seen everywhere, senior tourism market management need to be strengthen, then it investigates more than one hundred of old people in Urumqi. this investigation not only aims at aging people tourism characteristics, but also pay attention to the factors which affect senior tourism decision-making ,as well as senior travel characteristics. then the paper gives some suggestions and Strategies for the development of senior tourism market in Urumqi with the perspective of product strategy, pricing strategy, channel strategy, promotional strategy and government strategy, which give reference for Urumqi city and other region about the development of senior tourism market...
