With the globalization and integration of world economy, the native manufacturing corporations'strength of low cost material and labor force has been weakened. Native manufacturing corporations have to enhance management, boost staff's work enthusiasm, so as to advance the quality of product and service, improve the corporations'productivity and company images, and increase the value of the corporations.Performance management is a key link among the company's operation. It is also an important management tool for a company's management improvement. In practical ways, some of the native manufacturing corporations have gained some experiences on performance management, and many corporations have been attempting to design systemic performance management systems. However, most of the corporations'performance management is imperfect in the mass. Besides, we can see few researching reports on the topic about how to improve the performance management of a manufacturing corporation, not to say public cases about manufacturing corporations'performance management. The author's company—China International Marine Containers (Group) LTD, (CIMC for short) is a group corporation with numbers of subsidiary corporations and holding corporations. There are also some problems in its performance management system, so the top management hopes to develop a systemic and efficient performance management system as soon as possible.Thus, it is very important in researching the CIMC's performance management system in the eyes of theory and practice as well. And, it will benefit not only to CIMC itself but also to many other group manufacturing corporations.This paper used the performance management theories of BSC, MBO, KPI and so on, analyzed the existing state and problems of performance management of CIMC, started from CIMC's strategic objectives, discussed how to establish an efficient and systemic performance management system covering CIMC's HQ, subsidiary corporations, departments and staff. The redesign process included performance planning, performance communication, performance evaluation, performance feedback and application of performance evaluation results. This paper also put forward some suggestions of how to conduct the plan and the possible problems when conducting the plan.The researching method of this paper belongs to case researching and theoretical application. The paper put the basic theory of performance management to the practical operation of CIMC.The main achievements have been gained as follows:1. Analyzed and summarized the state of native manufacturing group corporations.2. Made job and Position Evaluation of CIMC and its subsidiary companies.3. Following the logic of performance planning, performance communication, performance feedback and application of performance evaluation results, redesigned the performance management system covering CIMC's HQ, subsidiary corporations, departments and staff. 4. Gave constructive suggestions to conduct the performance evaluation system of CIMC.
