In the 21st century,knowledge economy plays a leading role.To the country or an enterprise,the final competition is the talent competition. Identifying talents is one of the leader's most basic and important functions. Meanwhile, the leader's knowledge and skills of identifying talents are acquired and developed tacitly. However,there were few researches on enterprise leader's tacit knowledge of identifying talents(TKIT).Based on the analysis of literature and deep interview,referring to the Chinese traditonal ideas of identifying talents and researches on tacit knowledge in western psychology,the paper builds the theoretical model of enterprise leader's TKIT, and develops a preliminary scale of it.Through the pre-testing,we adjust scale and form the questionnaire for the small sample investigation. Analyzing the small sample of 86 leaders by SPSS 13.0, we modify the index system and form the formal scale.Using the formal scale,we investigate a big sample of enterprise leaders. Through the exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis based on the data of 368 leaders using SPSS13.0 and LISREL8.70, we find the model of TKIT for enterprise leaders and find it concludes four dimensions and 16 indexes.The four dimensions are identifying cultivation,self-discipline,cognizing others and identifying skills.The results also show,enterprise leader's TKIT can promote the effcts of identifying talents significantly. Through the variance analysis of the big sample data,we find there is no noticeable difference between male and female leaders about TKIT as a whole,but there is some noticeable difference about some indexes. Leaders at different levels have significant difference in TKIT.Senior leaders have an advantage over the junior ones in the aspects of identifying cultivation and self-discipline, and can regulate themselves better.Moreover,Chinese enterprise leader's TKIT has obvious difference in the variable of service length ,but has no obvious differences in the variables of educational backgroud and enterprise ownership nature on the whole.Finally, this paper draws the conclusions and analysis its shortcomings.This paper provides a direction and thinking for the follow-up research about Chinese enterprise leader's TKIT. This study proposes a set of indexes of TKIT through empirical study which has pioneering meaning for the future study.
