During the three decades of the reform and opening, the family firms have achieved vigorous development, offering a lot of job opportunities and adding the revenues. As the important component part of the national economy, the family firms' status quo and prospect are attracting the attention of the specialists and scholars from the business circle. Analyzing the process of Chinese modern family firms, we can find that most entrepreneurs adopt the household management to run the firms. Some enterprises faces the difficulties and are in the predicament in the developmental process. And some enterprises bankrupted after short prosperity. The lag of the enterprise culture is the important fact to lead the situation of the many reasons. The traditional family culture, which pushed the family firms to the success in the period of foundation, plays the important role of the build of the enterprise culture. The traditional family culture is the base and core of family firm's enterprise culture. The author begins with the study of the characters of our country's family firms, and then discusses the Chinese traditional family culture. Next, the author analyzes the necessity of the reform of the traditional family culture. In the end, the author tries to give some useful strategy and methods of the transition of the family culture.The main text is divided into four parts to state the details.In the first part, the author discusses the cultural characters of Chinese family firms with analyzing the historical development. The author manages to give a definition to the 'family firm' by using the others' research as a source of reference and then introduces the background of the fountain of the latter-day family firms briefly. And the author analyzes the developmental process of the modern family firms with six stages. And the author analyzes the cultural characters of Chinese family firms on the base of straightening out the venation of the historic development. Apart from this, the author also states the modern family firms took up the traditional family firm's enterprise culture.In the second part, the author analyzes the influence of the traditional family culture to the modern family firms' values. The author firstly describes the connotation of Chinese traditional family culture, including the basic contents, concepts and behavior models, etc. Then the author states that the traditional family culture was the base of the enterprise culture of the family firms by analyzing the influence of the traditional family culture on enterprise values. Next, the author discusses the merits and the detriments of the traditional family culture in the different development stages of the family firm.In the third part, the author tries to find the meaning of the transition of Chinese traditional family culture to the development of the modern family firms. The author discusses the meaning of realizes the transitions of the family culture under the new developmental background and historical conditions. The author starts with the analysis of the need of construction of the modern enterprise system, the sustainable development and information-driven economic growth and globalization. And the author proves the necessity of the transition of the traditional culture.In the fourth part, the author implement the strategic consider and attempts to give some advises to the transition of the traditional family culture. This part is the key point of the thesis. The author firstly introduces the successful experiences of transition of the enterprise culture of Japan, Korean, Hong Kong and Taiwan and concludes the enlightenments used for reference for family firms of our country. Then the author disserts the main contents of the transition of the traditional family culture by directed against the present situation of enterprise culture of our country's family firms. Next, the author illuminates the necessity of the self-breakthrough of the entrepreneurs. Moreover, the author puts forward the steps of the transition and rebuilding of the family culture of Chinese modern family firms.
