Evaluation On The Role Of High-speed Railway In Large Corridor Passengers Transport System

With the development of diversification and unification of transport mode, highly efficiently integrated transportation corridor has become the inevitable trend. High-speed railway technologies will become an indispensable part of the integrated Transportation Corridor in the future, with its significant technical and economic advantages.This paper studies the role of high-speed railway in passengers' transportation system of large corridor. According to relevant theories, the role divided into: functions on internal transportation structure and external economic zone. The paper sets different indicators for these two different functions, using DEA methods to evaluate, and then demonstrated that high-speed railway will not only improve internal structure of passengers' transportation system, but also make the large corridor more effective to promote the development of economic zone.In order to provide a basis for evaluation as mentioned, this paper defined the connotation of integrated transport corridor firstly, containing theories of transportation structure and economic zone, analyzed the mechanism of high-speed railway for passengers transportation system of large corridor.The paper decomposed the function on internal structure into two parts: the effect of resources allocation and the integrated effect of supply and demand balance, then set up two indicators: the resource allocation efficiency and coefficient of integrated effect of supply and demand balance, and decomposed the function on economic zone into three parts: direct promoting effect, urbanization effect and industrial structure optimizing effect. Then the changes of an integrated coefficient will embody all the effects, which reflect the effectiveness of promoting the development of the economic zone.Finally, taking the large corridor between Beijing and Shanghai as an example, the paper compared the changes of three indicators: resources allocation efficiency, coefficient of integrated effect of supply and demand balance and effectiveness index on the conditions of with and without high-speed railway. According to the criteria of indicators, this paper further demonstrates the role of high-speed railway in passengers' transportation system of large corridor.
