Since the beginning of reform and opening-up, the environment problem has becoming increasingly conspicuous with the rapid development of the economy and society in China. Environmental protection is facing tough challenges. For the implementation of major pollutants to be reduced by 10% till 2010 and the scientific development concept, the State Council decided to carry out the first national survey on the pollution sources in 2008. This article will conduct an investigation on pollution sources in ZPC (Zhongyuan Petrochemical Co.,Ltd.) and research on its countermeasure. This article firstly summaries the theory of organization, cleaner production, pollution, and introduces the content, methods of the survey, the appraisal subject and standards. Afterwards, the article investigates the process flow and the pollutant discharge points at the main plants in the factory. On basis of the above, the article investigates and evaluates the wastewater sources, emissions sources, solid waste and noise sources at the plants. The result shows that wastewater treatment unit is the main pollution source, while wastewater is the main pollutant in the factory. In the article, wastewater treatment technologies, facilities, discharge and reuse are discussed .In order to reduce the discharge, a wastewater re-treatment project is proposed, and then the article has an economic and technological assessment on it. Study shows that the project will be technically feasible, realistic, and it will have a better economic index. The article also puts forward some management proposals on the environmental protection, such as setting up supervisor system, strengthening environmental monitoring, and so on.
