Research On The Function And Value Of Urban Complex

In 1950s and 1960s, the popular city layout in occident's major city was"zoning planning", which means of dividing the whole city into several zones, such as offices, hotels, shopping malls, apartments and so on. As time went by, this kind of design brought about a series of"city disease", which caused citizens move from one zone to another as migration. Meanwhile, this kind of design also led to great waste of municipal resource, made the urban space became smaller and smaller.In order to resolve this problem, in 1960s and 1970s, lots of urban complex came out, which set off a human- subjective"urban revolution". Urban complex combined with many different functions such as housing, commerce, working, hotel and entertainment. It integrated a plenty of urban functions on the limited city land at a high degree and utilized the land resource effectively. Urban complex was advantageous to saving investment, energy and city's public facilities, making our life more convenient and comfortable. Meanwhile, urban complex also enriched our city Streetscape and skylines, relaxed the conflict between the limited urban space and the increasing urban population, which showed important theoretic value and practical significance.This paper regards urban complex as research object. Based on reading lots of interrelated literature, the author expounds urban complex's background and development history, uses the method of typology to pack up the pertinent concepts, meanwhile, its subsystem's feature and different function are also analyzed. In addition, according to comparative analysis method, the author also sums up social value and economic worth of the urban complex, summarized its merits and successful experience. The author expects to give certain suggestion and clues for the development of China's urban complex in the future, expand the development space of urban complex effectively and rationally.At present, China is facing a global economic crisis, the Chinese government has drawn up ten measures, 4 trillion of investment will be used to stimulating domestic demand; local governments at all levels are acting quickly and actively, stimulating domestic demand, implementing the plan. One of the most prominent measures is striving to develop urban complexes, For instance, Hangzhou will develop 100 new urban complexes; Wuxi will develop 22 new complexes, and so on. Scientific construction of urban complex is very important to a city's sustainable development, and the in-depth study of complex urban development still has a long way to go.
