The Suburb Land-use Diversification Study Of Wuwei

The land is the basis on which human rest. Research on land use will be helpful in developing the potential of land that would keep the sustainable development of the whole society. Rural-urban fringe is the result of the city's development. The city's development inevitably brings about the dynamic change of land use,the reorganization and alternative of land use structure and layout in rural-urban fringe.Rural-urban fringe is a combination of city and country that has both characteristics of the city and country area. As lacking of deserved attention, these regions are not well explored in a sustainable development concept. This paper has mainly concentrated on land saving and intensive use of rural-urban fringe of Wuwei. It reveals the changes of land-use, clarifies factors affecting the changes, and provides references for the land management and Government's decision-making.Wuwei in Hexi Corridor in Gansu Province is a typical oasis city, the use of land resources is blind and low in efficiency, eco-environment is serious degraded. How to allocate of land resources in Wuwei City rationally, to maximize the ecological economic, social benefits, is an important issue of sustainable development to be resolved. At first, the paper analyzes the characteristics of land use type in the rural-urban fringe area after an intensive discussion of its intrinsic meaning. The aim of the analysis is to find the reason for its existence and relationship between the land use and its economic momentum. After that, efforts are put into the basic problem of land use and countermeasures are brought forward to effectively improve the land intensive use of rural-urban fringe area.Position determination of rural-urban fringe area is one of main aims of this paper. After the analysis of principle and methodology of the scope of rural-urban fringe as well as a combination of resources at hand, determines the rural-urban fringe of Wuwei through qualitative, quantitative, GIS and RS technology.The paper has put forward a new vector index for studying the buildings in plane - land development density (LDD) which reflects the ratio of buildings' covering, the number and the degree of the buildings' compactness. The indicator system can be better applied for land use study and more scientifically divided the city of Wuwei.Based on the scalability of data and the current technical means in the process of evaluation, the present characteristics of land use in Wuwei are studied using GIS techniques and fuzzy mathematics method, it analyzes the geographical differences and the diversity of land use, type of concentration and composition. And put forward the existence of land-use problems of construction land and agricultural land, serious waste of land resources, imbalance in land use structure, weak land-use planning and management, even more serious issues such as environmental pollution.According to urban problems and their functional characteristics, the paper discusses the Wuwei urban land-use optimization model, and designs a detailed development model of various types of urban sites in accordance with different urban natural features and social and human characteristics. Finally, the paper effectively improve urban land conservation and intensive use , rendering the control of land use zoning map, proposes specific urban land-use control program and way to implement it,in order to provide references for land management in the region .
