China's footwear industry is the major sector of the export fields. Since 1980s, China has win the great development. The sum of the footwear exports also roar to the high level, and China's footwear industry has been to the comparative advantage industry. But, with the international economic situation and the international footwear industry structure change, especially we meet economic crisis, revaluation of the RMB, the increasing price of raw materials and labor, and the international trade barrier, Our international competitiveness advantage of the footwear products becomes weak. How to keep and improve the exports competitiveness of the footwear industry in the new situation takes great effect on China's footwear industry and China's international trade development.This paper set up the quantitative and qualitative analysis frame by empirical study and theory analysis, then evaluates the international competitiveness of China's footwear industry and other main footwear industry countries. The quantitative analysis uses usual exports competitiveness indexes, then these indexes are measured step by step in recent years' statistic data. The qualitative analysis is based on Poter's six factor theory include production, demand, support and related industry factors, company organizations, strategies and competition situation, opportunities and government.On the full realizing of the Chinese production ability and market, international competitive environment and international competitive opponents, the writer gives the exact measures to adapt to the worldwide footwear industry change which helps us improve international competitiveness and make China become strong footwear country from big footwear country.
