Urbanization is the only way leading to modernization and the direct indicators reflecting regional economic growth. A series of unresolved economic problem may be solved in the process of urbanization. From the history of city development, we can see that there is a strong positive correlation between urbanization and the level of economic development. Economic development promotes urbanization. Income increase as the economic develops, resulting in higher demands. When physiological needs are met, a higher level of demand will follow. However, the level of demand varies with income. Hence, economic growth will bring about changes in the demand structure. Meanwhile, input structure and output structure transferred from primary industry to secondary, tertiary industry on a large scale. Those processes will result in high density of capital and population in space and accelerate the pace of urbanization. On the other hand, urbanization development promotes economic. Urbanization is highly centralized and orderly status of capital and population with efficient labor productivity. Wealth created and accumulated in cities are far more than that in rural areas. So cities with high density of secondary industry and tertiary industry increase the development level of economic greatly simultaneous with their self-development. Urbanization is the inevitable result of economic development and promotes economic development. Hence, it is significant to implement a positive urbanization strategy. In this thesis, we introduced related basic theory of urbanization and economic development as well as the relationship of them at first. Then we analyzed the status of urbanization and economic development in Zhejiang province. Through correlation analysis, the linear models of urbanization and economic development were established. Quantitative analysis of "urbanization effect" and the "economic effect" indicated that urbanization and economic development had both short-term and long-term effects. Granger causality test showed the lag of urbanization in Zhejiang province. The proper reason was analyzed and an idea about coordinated urbanization and economic development was promoted. Aiming at promoting economic of Zhejiang province stability, coordination and efficient operation the thesis focused on the deepen the reform of management system, construction of a reasonable spatial structure, optimize the industrial structure, and enhance the capacity of urban economic radiation driven.
