On The Influence Of Economic Growth On The Urbanization In Yangtse River Delta

The coordinate development of urbanization and economy played a very important role in the promotion of the local economy and society as well as the guarantee of the quality and efficiency of economic circulation.The gradual growth of China's market economy system and our entrance of the system of economic globalization require that the economic growth be the fundamental impetus for the urbanization. Meanwhile, the process of urbanization guarantees the circulatory and accumulative economic development. However, the level of China's urbanization is quite low, lagging behind even the low-income countries.Urbanization process is not balanced. Usually it begins with the preferential development of the regions with advantages, subsequently, these regions pulls the disadvantageous ones to reach the over-all well-off. Therefore, urbanization is the integral part of regional economy.China's economy needs quantitative and qualitative growth, which in turn requires the leading and supporting role of local economic growth.Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang in Yangtse River Delta, closely connected geographically, culturally and economically, are recognized as the most prosperous cities in eastern China, one of the most energetic economic regions in China and the sixth largest city group in the world. But cities differ from each other. The urbanization and economic integration of the Yangtse River Delta will not only strengthen the connection between the three regions but also maintain the rapid economic growth in the Yangtse River Delta to make the world-level city groups, which will push the steady and rapid economic growth from Yangtse River Delta to the whole country.The present research will focus on the issue of"urbanization". Based on Northam's theory of the course of urbanization in the world, we will analyze all the economic index in the development of Yangtse River Delta. The correlation analysis, the regression analysis and cluster analysis will be used to test the mechanism underlying the difference between the indexes of the cities in Yangtse River Delta. The conclusions will be drawn and suggestions will be proposed for the establishment of polices.The difference between the cities in Yangtse River Delta is found to be significant compared with other areas in the country, which provides reference for other researches on urbanization so that we can see its impetus more clearly. In finally, puts forward some constructive suggestions.Through the exploration of the effects of the economic growth on urbanization as well as the analysis of the different urbanization models, we can 1) provide references for the research of other similar economic regions and illuminate the way for the development and urbanization of under-developed regions; 2) summarize the difficulties and problems in the process of coordination between regional economic growth and urbanization so that a more suitable and proper way of urbanization can be reached.
