Nowadays, With the rapid development of the place port and cargo wharf, competition between the port also becomes more and more intense, which causes the present harbor productivity to be surplus partly. Hinterland sourcing has become competition object among various port groups and each port in the identical port group. Moreover each harbor plans in their own way, which causes the development and utilization of the resources unscientific and unreasonable. In order to change this situation, researching the port reasonable hinterland scope becomes an important issue. Traditional hinterland division's literature based on the perspective of port, mainly consider structure and quantity of source of goods. However, the harbor recognizes the center cargo owner, the cargo owner does not necessarily identify the harbor. Therefore, this article studies the reasonable hinterland scope from the perspective of cargo owner, providing a new method to gamble between the cargo owner and harbor.Under the western region big development strategy background, the mid-west city rises rapidly, and cargo quantity is growing. So port is getting more and more intense to these places' competition. This article researches port's indirect hinterland on the bases of the situation, which has the extraordinary significance for proper planning for the port. This article altogether is divided into five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction, about paper research background, the practical significance and the domestic and foreign research present situation; the second chapter-the port hinterland division research status, mainly studies the relationship and the influencing factors of port and hinterland, competition among the ports, our country port hinterland pattern development and the traditional port hinterland division's method; the third chapter proposes mathematical model-the port hinterland division model based on the perspective of the cargo owner; the fourth chapter carries on the solution to the model, introducing better solution of the bionic-like algorithm-ant colony algorithm, and introduces an example to validate analysis; the fifth chapter is the conclusion, analyzing this article main research work, innovation and disadvantages.
