The Study Of Forestry Ecological Footprint Of Fujian Province Based On Modified Ecological Footprint Model

The ecological footprint model has received much attention as an assessment indicator for sustainable development in recent years. Fujian Province is rich in forest resources, and in the west coast of Taiwan Strait, so the study of Forestry Ecological Footprint of Fujian Province is necessary. This paper introduced the ecological footprint model and forestry ecological footprint, and presented a time series and formation analysis of actual forest area demand in the sustainable yield and production approach in Fujian Province from 1998 to 2007, which includes production forest area demand, import and export forest area demand, and actual forest area demand. It also use the ecological footprint per ten thousands yuan GDP to analyze the utilization of forest resources in Fujian province. The results showed that forestry ecological footprint was increasing year by year, ecological deficit was increasing annually, the degree of sustainable development was dropping, utilization of forest resources was low 1998 to 2007. Finally, several suggestions about reducing forestry EF and enhancing sustainable forestry development in Fujian are given.
