The aviation industry has always been recognized as a high value, high-tech, high-threshold industry with a monopoly position for a long time. But in recent years, with China's successful accession to WTO, foreign airlines and aviation maintenance companies enter to China to share the market. The Chinese aviation industry is feeling strong pressure of market competition, especially as globalization progresses, the competitive pressure is increasing. Thus continuous improvement is a way for the companies especially the aviation maintenance companies to enhance their competitive strength.By studying the basic theory and methods, and through in-depth study of an aviation maintenance company's continuous improvement system, the continuous improvement system which is running in this company could be applied to the aviation maintenance industry to increase their efficiency. This paper is divided into five parts:The first part is the introduction, described the research background, research topic and research significance; Second part is to systematically describe the basic theory and basic tools for continuous improvement; Third part is introduce the necessity and the qualifications of an aviation maintenance company to set up and implement such continuous improvement system base on the internal and external environment, strategic choice and the experience from domestic and oversee aviation industries; Fourth part introduces the positioning and composition of the continuous improvement system which based on market competition, total quality management, lean production, people involved, and effective incentive system. The system components include the basis and objectives of management, the composition-driven elements, and actions to maintain this system in daily business. The last part describes the main conclusion, prospects and further study and improve proposal.
