Lancang-Mekong River in Asia, the only international river flows through six countries, known as the "Oriental Danube."The international rivers flowing through this section of China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, the six countries of the region known as the Greater Mekong Sub-region (Greater Mekong Sub-region, referred to as GMS). Although, the Greater Mekong River Basin is rich in resources, yet most of the countries along this region have low coastal economic development. In order to better develop and utilize the Greater Mekong Sub-region, valuable natural resources, It is important to seek economic cooperation with neighboring countries, this has become a strategic step in many countries. In the international political multi-polarization, economic globalization and regionalization of the world, driven by the rapid development of the Lancang-Mekong sub-regional cooperation has aroused wide attention from the international community. The Greater Mekong sub-regional economic zones, as established on the basis of geo-political economic exchanges, due to geographical proximity, economic development level close to cultural patterns also have a certain degree of similarity, that is easier to achieve between economic integration agreement.To follow the principle of national economic sovereignty, the principle of equitable and mutually beneficial international cooperation in order to seek the development of principles of principles of international law to strengthen the Greater Mekong sub-regional economic and legal cooperation is the common aspiration of all countries in the region. At present, the Greater Mekong sub-regional economic and legal cooperation mechanism has been basically formed. GMS economic cooperation, the establishment of a permanent ministerial meeting mechanism consists of nine thematic forums and working groups responsible for transportation, telecommunications, energy, environment, human resource development, tourism, agriculture, trade and investment cooperation. GMS since its inception, has held 15 sessions and three GMS Ministerial Summit, cooperation and action on the arrangements for consultation and dialogue, has reached a "GMS cross-border transport agreement", "Kunming Declaration," "Greater Mekong Sub-region Trade and Investment Facilitation Strategic Framework for Action "and other important documents. After 10 years of development, the Greater Mekong sub-regional economic cooperation in transportation, telecommunications, energy, environment, human resource development, tourism, agriculture, trade and investment in priority areas such as 9 has achieved fruitful results, to improve the economic development of coastal countries level, and gradually realize trade and investment in the region of facilitation. At present, the Greater Mekong sub-region has become the world's fastest growing and East Asian integration, the fastest in the world. The region, average annual economic growth of over 6%.China's participation in the Mekong sub-regional economic cooperation has been 17 years of history, showing a broad development prospects. Over the years, China's insistence on sticking to an equal footing, mutual benefit and common development, actively participate in GMS cooperation in various fields, with five countries in the political, economic, social, and other ties on the rise. China's participation in globalization and regional integration, Is in an increasing degree, foreign investment gradually increased, GMS countries have become Chinese enterprises "going out" one of the purposes of the first. China is now associated with GMS countries bordering Yunnan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to participate in co-operation mainly, Yunnan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwest China, relying on the basic form for the GMS countries and Southeast Asia, multi-level, all-round opening pattern.Joint development and common benefit, common development and common prosperity between China and the countries of the subregion cooperation objectives.At the same time, China's participation in the Mekong sub-regional economiccooperation will greatly improve China's economic development in the surrounding environment and promote the implementation of the Southwest's external development and development strategies, and make it into a China-ASEAN Free Trade Area of the experimental area. Of course, the Greater Mekong sub-regional cooperation is also facing some problems. In the future, It should be further highlighted in the Greater Mekong sub-regional economic cooperation mechanisms; the authority's role, establishing a sound legal system, widespread mobilization of international funds, and the implementation a number of key projects to enhance effective cooperation for the benefit of the coastal people.
