Research On The Development Of Shaanxi's Kiwifruit Industry And Countermeasures

After investigation to the kiwifruit development situation in 14 counties and districts located within Baoji City, Xi'an City, Weinan City, Hanzhong City and Yangling region in Shaanxi Province, and on the basis of domestic and foreign literature, this paper describes the Practice and Enlightenment of the development of domestic and international kiwifruit industry,and analyses the status, problems and advantages of Shaanxi's kiwifruit industry, discusses the principles of developing Shaanxi kiwifruit industry, market positioning and planning, proposes the Suggestions of the development of Shaanxi's kiwifruit industry.The paper holds the view that the focus of developing Shaanxi's kiwifruit industry is current regional planning and the improvement of varieties according to the status, problems and market positioning of Shaanxi's kiwifruit industry. In the area of regional planning, among the area South to the north foot of Qinling Mountain and north to the south bank of Weihe river, with the center of Zhouzhi county and Meixian County, we select the alluvial fans area with altitude of 450-800 meters and width of 5-10 kilometers, and extending to Weibing distric in the west and to Tongguan county in the east, to be considered as the concentrated and jointly area for kiwifruit development.(1) The six counties including Zhouzhi, Meixian, Chang'an, Huxian, Xianshang and Chencang are located in the best suitable area for kiwifruit producing, and enjoy long history of cultivation and relative jointly large existed planting areas. The local fruit growers manage certain kiwifruit producing techniques, particulally the goverment and farmers have strong enthusiasm in developing kiwifruit, therefore, these six counties are indentified as the key areas for kiwifruit development.(2) some counties including Chenggu, Fuping, Linwei, Huaying, Tongguang etc are located in the normal suitable area for kiwifruit producing. The local farmers have the habit of planting kiwifruit and enjoy certain producing basis. We could guide local farmers to appropriately develope kiwifruit according to the market's demand.(3) Weibing and Niqiao districts also have certain scale of kiwifruit planting and industry basis. However, due to the rapid urban expansion, the arable areas in these suburb districts are declining dramatically. In addition, they are too close to the urban and transportation lines to producing safe and green fruits. Therefore. We don't encourage these areas to develope kiwifruit.In the area of improving varieties, put our efforts to reduce"Qinmei"variety and try our best to expand"Hayward"variety and"Xuxiang","Yate". Positively and steady develope new selected high quality varieties such as"Huayou","Xixuan Erhao","Cuixiang","Hongyang"etc. Adjust the ratio of early-middle ripe to later ripe variety to 3:7.Shaanxi has a unique geographical advantage to develop the fruit industry. n the process of developing the western region, accelerating the pace of industrialization of fruit industry, adjusting the agricultural structure, developing the special economy ,achieving a breakthrough in the industrialization of agriculture would have a significant meaning for increasing the farmers's income and promoting the Shaanxi's agricultural economic development.
