Traditional rural settlements are the habitations of human life and production, which carries thousands of years history of the Chinese nation. Traditional rural settlements like the stars scattered are the treasure of Chinese traditional culture, the crystallization of the wisdom of the laboring people, contain the local folk and gestate brilliant local ethnic culture.Traditional rural settlement landscape of Tujia in West Hubei is part of the rural settlement landscape of our nation, and its unique geography and history cultural environment has gestated settlement landscape culture with obviously regional characteristics. Profound culture accumulation has also formed unique production and life style, national character and esthetic sentiment of Tujia, and made Tujia cultural traits different from other nationalities, revealed the national cultural spirit.In this paper, through a large number of literature, historical data access, as well as field surveys, the use of cultural anthropology, history, landscape architecture school and so on, based on the analysis of culture, in the materialand cultural level, I bring forward the visual impact that the regional natural and geographical conditions make on the settlement landscape; in the spiritual and cultural level, I bring forward impact that the spirit of a core area of national culture make on the form of settlement landscape, layout and so on. Deeply discussing the impact of the regional culture to the settlement landscape and the unique cultural characters of the settlement landscape, thoroughly excavating relations between rural settlement landscape and culture and the charm of traditional culture, so I wish to have some effects to the protection inheritance and development of the rural settlement landscape culture.
