Wall Street's greed and its unrestrained innovation of financial derivatives have led to the spread of the global financial crisis. And at home, in 2008, events such as the Sanlu milk powder incident, the theory of the burden of contributions, astronomical salary and many entrepreneurs having been arrested, have led to a serious blow to the image of Chinese Entrepreneurs. At the 10th World Congress of Operators, for the first time Jack Ma proposed his view that the new commercial civilization would come up soon. The new commercial civilization has put forward a new demand for every entrepreneur. These events have brought the word "entrepreneurship" back to the focus of the public and the business community's attention. The business community also begins to rethink the real meaning of "entrepreneurship". At the same time, when Western management skills have been used to an extreme, there are many entrepreneurs that turn their attention to Chinese traditional culture and hope to gain the currently missing humanistic spirit from native wisdom. All these constitute the background of this research. This thesis relates to management, Chinese traditional philosophy and knowledge of other fields and mainly uses the research methods of normative research and case studies. On the basis of summarizing relevant literature and the practice of outstanding entrepreneurship at home and abroad, this paper gives the definition of entrepreneurship. In the perspective of Chinese traditional culture:Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, combining the practice of outstanding entrepreneurship, this study illustrates the proper connotation of entrepreneurship. This paper reaches the following conclusions:(1) The definition of entrepreneurship:Entrepreneurship is entrepreneurial spirit of innovation that shows in the process of enterprise operation and entrepreneurs' fundamental views and perspectives of enterprise mission and enterprise ethics.(2) Enterprise mission:From the perspective of Chinese traditional culture, enterprise mission is altruistic.(3) Spirit of innovation:Under the premise of the establishment of the corporate altruistic mission, only if entrepreneurs and their businesses'innovation are driven by altruistic mission, their spirit of innovation can be sustained.(4) Enterprise ethics:The idea of enterprise ethics is the Confucian benevolence. The ethical principles that enterprises adhere to when handling the relationship between business and customers, employees, shareholders, other enterprises and social public welfare are:①Business and customers:Think of righteousness on seeing benefits and put righteousness before benefits.②Enterprise and its employees:To meet the people's material needs and give people very good enlightenment.③Business and shareholders:Be on the base of loyalty and honesty.④Enterprises and other enterprises:With partners:You yourself desire rank and standing; then help others to get rank and standing. You want to turn your own merits to account; then help others to turn theirs to account. With competitors:Never do to others what you would not like them to do to you.⑤Business and social welfare:Have kindly feelings towards everyone and love all the existences. The theoretical significance of this study is reflected in:(1) this definition of entrepreneurship is more comprehensive, clear and accurate, and may contribute to the establishment of a unified analytical framework for entrepreneurship research. (2) Few research on entrepreneurship is from the perspective of Chinese traditional culture. This study can provide some reference and inspiration for the future research in this field. The practical significance of this study is reflected in:(1) this definition of entrepreneurship has effectively solved the problem that there is no ethical dimension in previous definitions. This is helpful to the business community's understanding of entrepreneurship. (2) This study provides some inspiration for entrepreneurs that they should be aware of what aspects of traditional culture and apply these ideas to which aspects of business. (3) This study makes some answers to the basic issues of enterprise management-"why running a business" and "how to manage an enterprise", with universal guiding significance. The innovation of this study is reflected in two aspects:(1) the definition and connotation of entrepreneurship. In this study, the definition and connotation of entrepreneurship are more comprehensive, clear and accurate, and may contribute to the establishment of a unified analytical framework for entrepreneurship research. (2) A comprehensive study perspective of Chinese traditional culture:Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. As far as is known, the literatures with regard to Confucian and entrepreneurship are less than 20; there is still no entrepreneurship research involved with Buddhism or Taoism.
