The female labor force participation rate (FLFPR) is an important index which reflects the female's labor supply decisions. In generally, with the economic development and the industrial structural adjustment, the female labor supply decisions of Urumqi have changed and the FLFPR has been decreasing since economic reform. So what are the factors and how do they influence FLFPR? These are the aims of thesis are: by describing and analyzing the conditions of the change of the FLFPR in Urumqi, identify the determinants of the FLFPR, and reveal the important degree of the different factors which influence the FLFPR.Economic theory suggests that these preferences for work and leisure are predominately influenced by human capital endowments, demographic variables and family status. The study suggests that, First, population number of the family is the most important factor. The population number of the family is decreasing, the FLFPR is increasing. Second, technological improvement and education also have important influence on Urumqi's FLFPR. In generally, technological improvement and education's increase have been increasing the FLFPR. Third, industrial structural adjustment (especially the third industry) has tight connection with Urumqi's FLFPR. Of course, because the problem that the development of the third industry is not enough good also exists in Urumqi area, Urumqi's FLFPR has been decreasing. Finally, the level of economic development, wage and marital status have a little connection with Urumqi's FLFPR. The study suggests that the economic development in Urumqi doesn't bring enough jobs for the women's labor. Besides, because the gap between salary of the men and women has been increasing, we make a mistake that the women's labor don't think of the wage's influence on the Urumqi's FLFPR.
