With the development of economy, the trend of globalization is strengthening increasingly and the challenges the enterprises are confronted with are gradually increasing. In the face of individual customer demand, for enterprises how to change the way of producing to rapidly response to the individual demands in the market by faster exploitation, design and producing speed, is the key whether the enterprises can keep invincible or not in the competition. In this social situation, the way of the producing for mass customization comes into being. It is the key for enterprises to rapid development in this competitive society, and also the development trend of producing mode for manufacturing field in the 21st century.Currently, the research on mass customization has made some progress, but is still in its initial stage. Based on the matter-element theory as a mathematical tool, the product configuration technologies of mass customization are studied, and the researches on the division of product modules, the general evaluation of modules division plan and the method of product configuration and so on are carried out.1.The background and definition of mass customization production are discussed, then the theory research and practical current situation are introduced. At the same time, the related concepts and current situation of research on product configuration are expounded and several key technologies researched in this paper are proposed.2.The basic theory of matter-element is described and the composite fuzzy matter-element between components is established by using fuzzy matter-element, then the values of correlation between all components are obtained by calculating the composite matter-element with weight. So with respect to different thresholds, the module division is solved, and the diverse modules are gained. Using the generalized Hamming distance to evaluate the division plans, the optimal division plan can be obtained. By analyzing the practical example, the process of module division for product is introduced in details.3.The customer demands is introduced, and based on the method of level analysis, the module matter-element is used to denote product modules. The similarity matching of module matter-element is made to analyze the correlations of all modules and the most matching module is acquired, then product configuration is implemented.The modules are not in accordance with regulation should be gone for matter-element transformation, eventually, the result for configuration is obtain. The methods of configuration and matter-element transformation for modules are illustrated through practical example given.
