As the developing trend of twenty-first century's manufacturing industry, the purpose of mass customization is that we can use large scale manufacturing mode to produce different kinds of products to meet individual needs, and also the delivery cycle will be shortened, cost will be reduced as well. Design is an important part in the whole product R&D process, design with parameters based on the product family is an effective way to implement rapid design and cost decreasing, and it's also the key technology to implement massive customization. Though there are a lot of theories, methodologies and tools researching, product family design is not applied well in domestic manufacturing industry.In this article, the design of Beam series container in author's factory will be taken as our background, theories and technologies related with the requirement of product design and product family design will be integrated as well, parallel engineering will be taken as our reference, our goal is trying to study and find product family design platform solution, as well as researching and implementing the key technology.This article has analyzed the popular design ways and procedures, tried to figure out the problems and weakness of current design methodologies and platform; it has also finished the research of current product family design, product platform and product family's related theories; Product family, parameterization, modularization, the application configuration model theory is planning to divide the product family design into product family configuration, family model creation and customer requirement-oriented configuration resolving these three steps; Starting from the view of massive customization, focusing on the architect of the product family management platform for Beam series container design and research, it will be described as system functionality implementation requirement, technical system structure, customized product configuration process, system key technologies etc..This article also presents a deep research for the related technologies, for the complicated product modules'dividing and reorganization, by using top-down method and from functionality, mechanism, structure three different views, all of modules are analyzed qualitatively, this has improved the module dividing efficiency and accuracy. Based on this module splitting, through relationship matrix, all of the highly-coupled design activities depending on each other is decoupled, this has decreased the unnecessary iteration in design activities at the maximum, as well as shortening the design cycle; For the expression of sizes and assembling relationship between modules, this article has analyzed the dependency between modules, it also popup a formalization language, and this can be used to describe the size dependency, assembly dependency, iteration dependency between parts in the product family, afterwards it shows the parsing algorithm for formalization language, through parsing the parameters for customer requirement and design staff requirement of customized product configuration, parameterized instances to meet personal product configuration will be got; Focusing on the issues for product family model creation and parameters driven issues, by using Pro/E model creation tool and top-down model creation ways, as well as making full use of structure & layout, the product family model is created, the result generated during the product configuration phase will be passed to framework and related parts, also model hiding and regeneration for web.link program will be provided. Finally by introducing the above key technologies, through the module dividing and decoupling, parameters relationship analysis and expression, a detail product configuration process will be shown to describe customized production rapid configuration's implementation process and methodologies. The application based on product family's parameterized design including both the methodologies and platform can shorten the design cycle dramatically, and this could help enterprise to decrease the cost, it will be very effective for enterprise massive product customization work.
