Furniture market plays a very important role in the word, with the expansion of furniture market, people’s living standards are improving gradually. So that the requirements of people are becoming much higher for furniture products, with sophisticated, personalized and diverse. People want to select furniture products according to their own preferences, and they hope to shorten the delivery cycle in the given maximize conditions, they also asked to reasonable prices. However, the traditional furniture manufacturing industry is not able to meet customer needs. In the process of furniture manufacturing, if it uses the traditional manufacturing methods can not make furniture products in the short term, at the time, it makes the high cost of manufacturing furniture. However, the use of large-scale production mode to manufacturing of furniture products, not only to meet the above two conditions, but its ability is very important to create customer satisfaction with the products. Therefore, mass customization has a favorable position in the modern furniture market.Through the analysis of the development of mass customization in the domestic and international, research status and development trend of the domestic furniture market, a model of furniture product design and assembly for mass customization were proposed. First, the architecture of product family model and composition were analyzed. Second, discussion the process of making product family modeling and use the key technology of product family modeling in the process. Based on the above theory, according the different needs of users, to establish the function model of furniture products. With tree structure to represent its function model. It can decompose step by step, and find out the structure of the corresponding module, furniture product structure tree is established. Under the architecture of product family, we can know product family of mapping relationship between function and structure. So as to realize the conversion between furniture product function and structure, established the model of configuration based on product family modeling. From the configuration model, getting the parts collection which will be needed in the furniture products, at the same time, their relationship is also got. Product assembly information model is established. Parts of basic assembly information extracted from the model, in order to find the assembly relation between all parts more intuitive and easier, and using undirected graph represents the relationship between them, the mathematic expression of the matrix is undirected graph, then assembly matrix is obtained.The ultimate purpose of this study is solving of assembly sequence using genetic algorithm for the configuration model. The process of genetic algorithm is as follows:first of all, through the analysis of product family model collection of parts, randomly generated initial population, symbolic coding. Secondly, use of fitness function and OX for individual selection of initial population and selection operator, to produce a new generation of population, and use the crossover operator and mutation operator of new species, repeat the above steps, until the end of the meet the conditions, find out the optimal generation populations, namely the optimal solution of product assembly sequence. Finally, the example of manufacture lockers, verifying the above theory and the established model is effective and feasible.
