Research On The Influence Of Science And Technology Innovation Shanghai Universities Regional Economic Development

In the era of knowledge economy, competition between countries and regions are mainly embodied in technological innovation. As an important part in innovation system, universities take significant missions in bringing up innovative talents and social services, and the science and technology ability also plays a more and more important role in promoting the regional economic development.Based on the regional development theory and technological innovation in Schumpeter's theory,this paper definites the science and technology innovation of universities, and analyses the basic situation of Shanghai economic development during 2001~2007 from the economic output & growth rate, industrial structure, economic and other aspects. And it describes the impact of science and technology innovation of universities on the Shanghai's economic development from the three levels which are the training of universities, R&D activities of universities and the productions'transform ability of science and technology of universities.On the contribution of the science and technology innovation of universities to Shanghai's economic growth, first of all, by applying the method of Cobb-Douglas production function, it measures the effect of Shanghai scientific and technological progress. Then, by using labor-simplified method, the contribution rate of the science and technology innovation of universities is separated from the whole, thus the important roles and functions of universities in the state scientific and technological system is clear. The next, through horizontal comparison, it is knowed that rate of scientific and technological progress of Shanghai universities will be improved again.At last, based on the theoretical and positive researches, by the current situation of Shanghai science and technology innovation as well as the status of Shanghai's economic development, this paper proposes the policy suggestions to promote science and technology innovation in universities and economic development in Shanghai.
